Corina Roman, Corporate Mergers & Acquisition Romania: Best Professional Decision

July 2025

The people you work with matter the most | Interview with Corina Roman

For Corina Roman, the best professional decision was to pursue a career in business law. “It is one of the decisions that has fulfilled me personally and professionally, and that gives me daily satisfaction“, she emphasizes during a recent interview for Bizlawyer.

At BACIU PARTNERS, I have discovered a strong commitment to and emphasize on the idea of knowledge and dedication to the mandates received from clients. I was also happy to see a constant and accentuated concern for the well-being of the team“, adds Corina.

The fact that business law has fulfilled her from a professional point of view is fully highlighted by the files that Corina is working on. For example, she has been involved in several notable mergers and divisions rolled out in the local market across industries such as IT, entertainment, gaming technology, and FMCG. “Another type of projects that are particularly dear to me are those with start-ups, where you have the opportunity to support businesses at the beginning of the road, which are also configured according to the advice you offer,” says Corina.

Exposure to interesting and challenging projects is always a plus because it develops a professional and, personally, satisfies my innate curiosity“, she mentioned.

When accessing legal services, clients should consider factors beyond gender. Corina draws attention to the fact that she does not believe a client should choose a lawyer based on their gender but instead on their training and skills. Also, feeling chemistry with that lawyer, regardless of whether they are a man or a woman, is paramount, as any relationship is based on trust.

The criteria that indicate the success and quality of a lawyer are related to each individual’s specific personality threads. “I consider we should evaluate the creativity that a lawyer shows in the exercise of his profession, but also to the interpersonal relationships they create with their partners (clients and/or colleagues)” considers Corina.

During her professional career, Corina has not encountered “almost any prejudices”, and on the rare occasions when she has faced reactions that are not fully anchored, she has noticed that maintaining a diplomatic but clear communication helps to dispel any preconceived ideas.

However, a notion that occasionally arises in certain areas of society is that men are more proficient in the technology sector. The reality, however, contradicts this, Corina considers: “In this period marked by exciting and accelerated technological advances, I don’t think we can continue to propagate such an outdated view. It is up to each individual, whether woman or man, to stay up to date and utilize existing technology as an active professional. Technology is a tool that must be used to the fullest, but being careful not to become dependent on it“, says Corina.

Corina enjoyed learning from every person she interacted with, but at the same time, she looked carefully at successful women around the world. One such leader he admires is Margaret Thatcher, whom she appreciates for her visionary spirit, as well as the inner strength she demonstrated in a challenging position and context. “Her concern for the independence of individuals, especially by creating a society in which individual interests are accepted and supported (and here I am referring to the series of privatizations she supported in the UK), but also the impeccable ethics she showed throughout her life made me particularly appreciate her“, Corina argues.

Corina also emphasizes that all the choices she has made in her career have been related to the people she has met on her professional path. “Exposure to interesting and challenging projects is always a plus because it develops a professional and, personally, satisfies my innate curiosity. The financial part is important, but it is never the main selection criterion. The main benefit offered by BACIU PARTNERS is that I enjoy an environment concerned with knowledge, quality, and the well-being of clients”, she concludes.
