A place is shaped by the people within it, just as people are influenced by the spirit of a place. When this dynamic is built on courage, agility, and the drive for excellence, the profession becomes more than a career—it becomes a way to understand, influence, and transform the reality around us. – interview with Adela Nuță
A lawyer’s professional success is strongly influenced by the team they’re part of. In fact, Adela believes that choosing a team is not only a professional decision, but a deeply personal one. “Of course, it’s about the projects, the exposure, and the growth opportunities, but more than that, it’s about the energy of the place, about the people you build alongside, and about the way work gains a deeper meaning beyond the results. At BACIU PARTNERS, good questions are appreciated, ideas are valued, and every day becomes a genuine exercise in growth. It’s an intense rhythm, one that demands full commitment, but in return offers the certainty that what you do truly matters—and that every effort contributes to something greater than yourself,” she notes during a recent interview for Bizlawyer.
Looking Back to Set the Tone for the Future
Throughout her professional journey, Adela has learned many important lessons. Reflecting on the defining moments of her career, she says without hesitation: “Knowledge takes you far, but courage takes you further.” She emphasizes that a career isn’t measured only by achievements, but also by how you choose to live it—with passion, courage, and the belief that the most important answers are discovered along the way.
Her career wasn’t charted with a ruler, but shaped by a series of choices, challenges, and moments where instinct mattered just as much as reason. “Looking back, I realize that the most significant decisions weren’t necessarily the ‘big’ ones—the ones that looked impressive on paper—but those subtle choices that at the time felt like just another step forward,” Adela confesses.
One such turning point, though she didn’t realize it at the time, was her first experience participating in a complex negotiation. Back then, she thought it was all about rules, about the letter of the contract, about flawless arguments—but she quickly learned that the true power lies not only in legal knowledge, but in reading people, managing reactions, and calibrating every word and gesture. “It was my first real lesson in how lawyering is not just about what you say, but also about what you choose not to say,” she explains.
Another career-shaping decision was accepting challenges that initially seemed too big—diving into projects that felt overwhelming, taking on responsibilities she wasn’t sure she was fully prepared for. “But if I had waited to be ‘100% ready’ for every opportunity, I’d probably still be waiting,” she adds.
The Criteria That Define a Lawyer’s Career Path
Adela firmly believes that what truly defines a career is not the labels or expectations of others, but the real impact of the work, clarity of thought, and ability to offer solutions. These are the things that matter and make the difference.
Clients looking for legal services should remember that choosing a lawyer should not be about gender, but about competence. “Ultimately, it’s a decision based on trust, clarity, and the ability to handle not just the legal issue, but the entire emotional and strategic weight that comes with it. It’s not about gender, age, or style—it’s about who can provide the most effective path and the strongest solution,” Adela stresses.
In her view, a client should choose a lawyer who can build a strategy without forcing things, who understands not only the letter of the law, but also the spaces between the lines. “Choosing a lawyer is not about confirming expectations—it’s about finding someone who makes you feel like you’re exactly where you need to be: in the right hands, with the right mind, heading in the right direction,” Adela says.
In her opinion, technology has no gender—just as adaptability, intelligence, and strategy are not defined by who uses them, but by how they are integrated and leveraged. Since the legal profession is a constant exercise in adaptation, technology has become part of that process—an extension of clarity, vision, and the ability to anticipate before others react. “In the end, the real difference isn’t who handles tech ‘better,’ but who understands that the future of law belongs to those who know how to combine sharp thinking with the right tools. And in that sense, women lawyers not only keep up—they often set the pace,” she concludes.
Ally McBeal, Empathy, and Professionalism
Adela Nuță sees the woman lawyer as a blend of identities, emotions, and sometimes contradictory strengths, all balanced with poise. “She is both rigor and intuition, pragmatism and sensitivity, decisiveness and listening. She combines clarity, resilience, and adaptability. She’s not defined by a single role, but by a whole construct that allows her to be, at once, strategist and diplomat, listener and decision-maker, firm and flexible where needed,” Adela nuances.
The legal profession is complex, and a woman who chooses this path may at times feel like she’s living in an episode of Ally McBeal—only instead of internal monologues and imaginary dances around the office, she’s juggling deadlines and phone calls interrupted by email notifications. What makes the woman lawyer remarkable is her ability to blend strength with flexibility, rigorous logic with intuition, firmness with empathy. “A woman lawyer knows how to build solid arguments, to answer tough questions—and also to ask the ones that completely shift the rules of the game. Most importantly, she knows how to do all of this without losing sight of the essence: that lawyering is not just about laws and contracts—it’s about people, about trust, and about decisions that change lives. And yes, at the end of a long day, she has every right to imagine herself walking down a hallway with Ally McBeal music playing in the background—because no matter how complex the day was, she did exactly what needed to be done,” says Adela Nuță.
Authenticity and the Conviction That Your Chosen Path Deserves Every Effort
For Adela, every woman who lives her profession with passion, responsibility, and courage holds a form of authentic leadership. “Role models aren’t just the visible ones—the ones in articles or on stage giving motivational speeches. Role models are everywhere: in women who make tough decisions every day, who juggle roles, who create, support, and change the world step by step, without waiting for recognition. That’s why the women I admire aren’t just the ones who excel professionally, but those who inspire through the way they live their profession. They are the women I meet every day in my office, in my profession, in other industries, in places where performance doesn’t come with trophies but with real impact—women who build, innovate, and follow their path out of pure conviction that what they do is worth every effort,” Adela mentioned.
