The IP Enforcement Portal (IPEP) Forum 2024 hosted by EUIPO – European Union Intellectual Property Office reconfirmed its positioning as a highly anticipated gathering for IP professionals, enforcement authorities, and stakeholders, designed to foster collaboration and share the latest tools and strategies for more effective IP enforcement.

- Mandatory e-AFA submissions: Starting from October 3rd, electronic Applications for Action (e-AFAs) are now required via the IPEP portal or national platforms. This streamlines processes for rights holders, providing centralized access to all AFAs with real-time updates and alerts.
- Efforts of police and customs authorities: The forum shed light on the significant struggles faced by enforcement agencies in identifying, storing, and ultimately destroying counterfeit goods.
- E-commerce platforms’ strategies: Leading platforms shared their approaches to combating counterfeits, providing a glimpse into the role of private sector initiatives in tackling IP infringements online.
- Innovation and future plans: The forum discussed the continuous evolution of the IPEP portal, including enhanced search functionalities, improved user alerts, plans to open the platform to candidate countries and the release of the IPEP mobile app.
