STEP INTO ANSWERS is our way of opening up conversations about mentorship, as a key component of the benefits students joining our internship program, STEP INTO YOUR FUTURE, experience: how it looks and what it means when you are at both ends of the journey.

This time, we turn to Cosmin Todirascu:

• Do you remember the first time someone offered you an opportunity at the beginning of your career path? How do you want you to be (perceived by) for a student today, in your capacity as a mentor?

Cosmin: The memory is vivid, as it concerns the first job I obtained for a role that represented much more than what was written “on paper.” It was the spark I needed to shape my professional direction and to understand what I wanted from my career. Starting from this experience, I aim to be exactly that support that makes a difference for the students I mentor:

a person who offers confidence and clarity, who encourages curiosity, and who creates a safe space to make mistakes and evolve.

• What have you learned from students in your interaction with them as a mentor?

Cosmin: To constantly reconfigure my way of thinking. Their questions often highlight uncertain, unclear areas and bring to light subtleties often taken for granted. They challenge me to rediscover areas I considered mapped out and to question old assumptions.

• What is the most important thing you want this experience – the interaction with dedicated mentors – to leave behind for the students?

Cosmin: The understanding that the people you choose to collaborate with are just as important as the professional direction you follow. Sustained results are built through careful guidance, not through instructions, and the responsibility with which everyone fulfils their tasks gains true meaning when accompanied by the assurance that the team is there for support. This is exactly the type of environment we cultivate at BACIU PARTNERS.

• As a summary: from your perspective as a mentor, what specifically does the BACIU PARTNERS internship project add for the students who join with us?

Cosmin: Confidence and perspective. Both built through involvement in real projects, with concrete stakes (which are clear or clarified for those involved, including students). I believe that theory must transform into solutions, and here, students have the opportunity to validate their skills and test their potential.
