Ileana Nicolescu-Decsei has been invited as a speaker at the upcoming debate “EU Directive: Between Access to Justice and Abuse of Process”, organized by JURIDICE.ro.

Preparing for her intervention alongside esteemed legal professionals, Ileana noted:

Measures against abusive court actions designed to silence public participation (SLAPPs) are redefining the balance between freedom of expression and fundamental rights. This conversation is all the more critical as Romania’s legislative process nears completion, following the Senate’s recent adoption of the draft national anti-SLAPP law (Draft Law PL-x no. 58/2026).

Alongside other practitioners leading this topic, Ileana will analyze the impact of the EU Directive, the practical risks of abuse of process, and the protective mechanisms applicable within the legal system, as well as Romania’s specific response to this new legal framework.
