Step into Answers is our way of opening up conversations about mentorship: how it looks and what it means when you are at both ends of the journey.

This time, we turn to Narcis Codori:

• Do you remember the first time someone offered you an opportunity early in your career? How do you wish to show up for a student today, as a mentor?

Narcis: I want to remain open while guiding students toward the correct solution. I believe students should find in their mentors examples of professional competence, without the mentor–student relationship becoming rigid.

• What is the most important thing you would like this experience—the interaction with dedicated mentors—to leave behind for students?

Narcis: A transparent image of the profession. For me, an internship mentor has a dual role: to guide the student through the program, and also to help them see the profession in its most unfiltered form. I hope that the students I worked with now have a clearer picture of their future professional path.”

• If you could put into one single sentence the reason why it is worth being a mentor, what would that be?

Narcis: A mentor borrows from the students’ energy. It is worth it because it helps the lawyer remember what it felt like at the beginning—and to keep that enthusiasm alive.

• In summary: from your perspective as a mentor, what does the BACIU PARTNERS internship concretely add to the students who join the program?

Narcis: Clarity. Students have the opportunity to work on real projects, express themselves, and better understand what practicing the profession truly means.
