Step into Answers is our way of opening up conversations about mentorship – how it looks and what it means when you are at both ends of the journey. We ask our mentors a few simple, yet powerful questions, about being mentors in the Step into your Future program for law students, rolled out by BACIU PARTNERS in 2025. Each of them chose the questions that resonated most and replied in their own voice. Their answers speak volumes.

We are pleased to continue with our next guest, Cristina Stoica, Associate:

• What is the most important thing you would like this experience, the interaction with dedicated mentors, to leave behind for students?

Cristina: The most valuable thing I would like this experience to leave behind is the understanding that a career is built not only through continuous learning, but also by choosing the people you grow with. I want students who join us during the internship to feel that our discussions have given them clarity, confidence, and constructive feedback relevant to their development, so that, by the end, they know whether they want to practice law, and to do so alongside us.

• If you could put into one single sentence the reason why it is worth being a mentor, what would that be?

Cristina: For me, every meeting with a young future professional is both a chance to support them in discovering themselves, and an opportunity to rediscover my own lessons and meanings as a professional. In this mutual exchange, the joy of sharing my experience becomes a chance for growth for both of us.

• What do you wish a mentor had shared with you when you were a student, something that you now believe could have changed your perception of university or what was to come right after graduation?

Cristina: I believe every student would benefit from understanding that professional success is not measured only in results and statistics, but in the balance between inner growth and professional development. Student years and the beginning of a career come with intense emotions and inevitable challenges. The way we manage them, with kindness and clarity, helps us become authentic professionals, able to remain human and empathetic.

• If students were to complete this program with just one thought in mind, what would you want that to be?

Cristina: I would want students to hold on to the conviction that their professional journey is both possible and valuable, and that the key to success at the beginning lies in finding people who support them with trust, care, and a genuine desire to see them grow.

• Care este cel mai important lucru pe care vrei să îl lase în urmă această experiență – interacțiunea cu mentori dedicați – pentru studenți?

Cristina: Cel mai valoros lucru pe care mi-aș dori să îl lase această experiență este înțelegerea faptului că profesia se clădește nu doar prin învățare continuă, ci și prin alegerea oamenilor alături de care crești. Îmi doresc ca studenții care ne sunt alături pe parcursul unui stagiu de practică să simtă că discuțiile noastre le-au adus claritate, încredere și feedback constructiv, relevant pentru evoluția lor, astfel încât la finalul internshipului să știe dacă își doresc să practice avocatura, și să o facă alături de noi.

• Dacă ai putea să pui într-o singură propoziție motivul pentru care merită să fii mentor, care ar fi acela? Și, desigur, poți detalia 😊

Cristina: Pentru mine, fiecare întâlnire cu un tânăr viitor profesionist este atât un prilej de a-l sprijini să se descopere pe sine, cât și o ocazie de a-mi regăsi propriile lecții și sensuri profesionale. În acest schimb reciproc, bucuria de a dărui din experiența mea se transformă într-o șansă de creștere pentru amândoi.

• Ce ți-ai fi dorit să împărtășească cu tine un mentor când erai student și acum crezi că ți-ar fi schimbar percepția despre perioada de facultate sau despre ceea ce avea să urmeze imediat după absolvirea ei?

Cristina: Consider că oricărui student i-ar prinde bine să înțeleagă că succesul profesional nu se măsoară doar în rezultate, în statistici, ci în echilibrul dintre evoluția interioară și formarea profesională. Perioada studenției și începuturile carierei vin la pachet cu emoții intense și provocări inevitabile. Modul în care le gestionăm, cu blândețe și claritate, ne ajutăm să devenim profesioniști autentici, capabili să rămânem umani și empatici.

• Dacă studenții ar finaliza acest program cu un singur gând în minte, care ai vrea să fie acela?

Cristina: Mi-aș dori ca studenții să rămână cu convingerea că drumul lor profesional este posibil și valoros, iar cheia reușitei la început de drum constă în a găsi oameni care să îi susțină cu încredere, grijă și dorință reală de a-i vedea crescând.
