Managing IP, a leading intellectual property publication, recently released its 2024 Top 250 Women in IP, a highly prestigious ranking that “recognizes some of the senior female IP practitioners in private practice who have performed exceptionally for their clients and firms in the past year.” The 2024 results reflect a research that covered more than 50 jurisdictions worldwide, making it a comprehensive and highly competitive ranking.
Ana-Maria Baciu, Managing Partner, has been included in this selected list of female intellectual property practitioners for the eighth (8th) time in a row. Also, as a testimonial to her outstanding expertise in the intellectual property field and her exceptional, tailored manner of interaction with the clients she advises, Ana-Maria continues to be the only professional active in Romania noted as a remarkable expert in the field in the Managing IP’s Top 250 Women in IP.
A lawyer with over 20 years of professional expertise and a European trademark and design attorney, Ana-Maria has been providing legal assistance to prominent companies and entrepreneurs active in retail, gaming and gambling, technology, tobacco, automotive, fashion and luxury goods, pharmaceuticals, and FMCG, on the full spectrum of intellectual property aspects, both contentious (disputes over the validity of intellectual property rights, trade mark/design/patent infringement claims or plagiarism) and advisory work (re-branding strategies, transactions, IP rights transfers, licensing or franchising, IP portfolio management, and complex IP due diligence), as well as registration, filing, prosecution strategies and anti-counterfeiting work.
Ana-Maria is not only a respected practitioner but also an active contributor to the legal community. She is a member of highly reputable professional organizations such as INTA (former member of the INTA Anti-Counterfeiting Committee and the INTA Parallel Importation Committee), ECTA, AIPPI and the Romanian Chamber of Patent Attorneys (currently serving as a member of the Monitoring Committee). Her substantial activity with the American Chambers of Commerce in Romania (AmCham) and Concordia (Employers Organization) further demonstrates her commitment to promoting the interests of the legal profession.
Her inclusion among the Top 250 Women in IP by Managing IP complements the string of distinctions by independent observers that Ana-Maria has enjoyed during her remarkable career to date, with selected recognitions for her activity in the intellectual property field, including:
- Leading Individual in Intellectual Property by Legal 500 EMEA
- Leading Lawyer (Band 1) in Intellectual Property by Chambers and Partners
- Leading Trademark Professional (Gold Band) by WTR – World Trademark Review 1000
- Trademark Star by Managing IP, IP Stars
- Top Lawyer in IP by FinMedia Layers’ Gala
Ana-Maria is also the first Romanian lawyer awarded the prestigious ‘Practitioner of the Year’ distinction during the Managing IP EMEA Awards Gala in 2023 and reconfirmed by the 2024 edition. This award is presented to the practitioners who have demonstrated exceptional skill, knowledge, and dedication in the field of intellectual property.
